ELSENHAM, a parish in the hundred of UTTLESFORD, county of ESSEX, 2 miles (N E) from Stansted-Mountfitchet, containing 434 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king’s books at £11 10s, and in the patronage of the Bishop of London. The church is dedicated to St Mary. There is a small endowment for teaching two poor children.
