MANEWDEN, a parish in the hundred of CLAVERING, county of ESSEX, 2½ miles (NW) from Stanstead-Mountfitchet, containing 656 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king’s books at £14. The Rev H Marsh and others were patrons in 1803. The church is dedicated to St Mary. A fair is held here on Easter-Monday.
