All Saints, Great Horkesley

GREAT HORKSLEY, a parish in the Colchester division of the hundred of LEXDEN, county of ESSEX, 1¾ mile (S S W) from Nayland, containing 623 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king’s books at £15. The Countess de Grey was patroness in 1817. The church is dedicated to All Saints. The navigable river Stour runs on the northern side of this parish.
