Finding your ancestors
Having waded through the large parish of Hoxne last time, I have chosen some smaller ones this time.
Kettlebaston – just shy of 1700 records
Preston – over 2300 records
Southolt – almost 1500 records
The early records from Preston are fascinating with a very chatty Rector. Well worth a browse.
Hopefully something of interest for you.
At long last we can now work on high quality images of Suffolk parish registers, available on Ancestry. I have added transcripts of the early registers for two parishes along the northern border on the River Waveney.
Hoxne more than 10 800 entries
and
Syleham more than 3 700 entries
Some odds and ends for Suffolk. It is not easy to get access to Suffolk registers at present – hopefully it will be much better once new images are made available online in 2025.
